Chapter Seven

Thomas shrugged, “Make the jump and let’s see.” The lights dimmed and open space disappeared from the viewport.

The small ship arrived in open space above the galaxy and Celly asked, “Have you found him?”

“Not yet. Give me a few moments to move at high speed above the galaxy and I should be able to locate the ship,” Orton replied.

It took eight hours before Orton found the ship much further ahead of where it should have been. “It appears they aren’t stopping to record everything like they normally would. They’re much further ahead of schedule than I anticipated.”

Celly broadcast a thought toward the ship, “Father, do you mind if we come to see you,”

“Not at all. I didn’t expect you to visit this quickly after you left.”

“We’ll be there momentarily. Orton, take us to the ship.”

They arrived on the ship and transported to the Elder’s location. Celly wrapped her energy form around him and said, “It’s good to see you, Father.”

“What brings you back so soon Child?”

“Thomas has some questions he wants to ask you.”

The Elder turned to Thomas, and he immediately asked, “Why are you searching for Eternity?”

“I never told you I’m searching for him; you came up with that wild notion on your own.”

“Elder, I need you to be open and honest with me.”

“I’ve not been dishonest with you,” the Elder replied.

“You’ve not deliberately lied but you have avoided answering my question. Are you or are you not searching for this being named Eternity?”

“This is not an issue that concerns you.”

“And notice you haven’t answered my question,” Thomas commented.

“What we’re doing on the ship no longer concerns you; you are no longer a member of the crew.”

Thomas turned to Celly, “We should leave. He’s not going to work with us.”

“Work with you on what?” the Elder asked with dripping sarcasm.

“It’s not important; I just thought you’d like to know where Eternity is located but I can see you don’t really care. We’ll check back with you in the future.”

“DO YOU KNOW WHERE IT IS?!” the Elder responded loudly.”

Thomas shrugged, “This is not an issue that concerns you; like you said, we are no longer a member of the ship’s crew.”

The Elder closed off his location with an energy barrier and asked Celly, “Do you know where it’s located.”

“We know where an energy being is located and suspect it’s Eternity.”

“You must stay away from it, Daughter.”

“Why?”

“It is capable of killing you and will do so if it sees you.”

“Then why are you searching for it, Father?”

“To determine what direction we need to flee.”

“What?” Thomas replied.

“Every member of my species is out searching for it. Once one of our ships locates it, then every ship is going to flee directly away from its location as far away as possible from it. The universe is infinite but we’re going to flee hundreds of billions of light years away from this creature.”

“Why don’t you just run now?” Thomas asked.

“Because we may just flee to where it’s currently located.
